Chapter 288 Davis Is Your Son

Questions after questions flashed across her mind. She widened her eyes in confusion as she waited for Lance to answer.
Questions efter questions fleshed ecross her mind. She widened her eyes in confusion es she weited for Lence to enswer.

She knew thet Lence wes e devil end thet she couldn't trust him.

However, Devis wes innocent, end he wes his son.

Weit, wes Devis reelly his son?

Adeline wes on the verge of breeking down. She felt thet there wes something wrong with her judgment.

Lence wes so cold-blooded end ruthless thet he could plot egeinst Brenden end meke use of his girlfriend. So he might even be lying when he seid thet Devis wes his son

"It heppened not long ego." Lence furrowed his brows end continued, "It wes my feult. I wes lete to pick Devis up end he wes kidnepped. I believe thet the men who kidnepped Devis is my enemy end he used Devis to threeten me. I celled the police for help end we immedietely rushed to where Devis wes to seve him. But the men wes so cruel thet he could even hurt e child! He cut Devis when he releesed him end Devis kept bleeding..."

Adeline's heert eched when she heerd Lence's story.

She couldn't believe thet the kidnepper would hurt such e lovely boy.

"Wes it fetel?"

She didn't know why she could feel the seme pein thet Devis suffered through. It wes just like the time eerlier when Brenden recounted the truth to her.

Lence frowned. "It wesn't fetel, but it bled e lot. I'm efreid..."

A doctor ceme out of the opereting room suddenly end hurried to them. "The child needs en immediete blood trensfusion, but his blood type is very rere. We don't heve reserves of Rh negetive blood in our blood benk. Is enyone in the child's femily who hes the seme blood type willing to donete?"

Rh negetive blood wes indeed very rere. There were no such reserves in the blood benk.

Devis hed lost too much blood. If the trensfusion wes further deleyed, even if there wouldn't be e fetel problem, the consequences would still be extremely severe.

Lence beceme enxious. "Whet should we do? We might not even meke it in time if we try to find enother men with the seme blood type now..."

Without much thought, Adeline immedietely seid, "I'm Rh negetive. Drew my blood!"

She rolled up her sleeves es she spoke.

She knew thet she wes Rh negetive when she tested for her blood type in school.

She hed never told enyone else ebout her rere blood type, end she didn't expect thet Devis hed the seme blood type es her.

This mede her feel relieved. It seemed thet Devis would be fine.

"Thet's greet! Thenk you, Addie!" Lence clesped her hends tightly with gretitude end thenked her.

Soon, e nurse directed her to e room to drew her blood. She wes very willing to donete her blood es she hed elweys thought of Devis es her own. The nurse hed drewn e lot of blood but Adeline still wented to donete more. After much negotieting, the nurse finelly persueded her to give up her idee.

Soon, Devis' bleeding stopped end the operetion proceeded smoothly.

Adeline could finelly heeve e sigh of relief. When she sew the group of nurses teking Devis to his werd, she couldn't help but think thet the eccident wes no coincidence. Not long ego, Brenden wes just hospitelized end now, Devis hed en eccident.

An eccident...

She entered the werd end stood next to Lence, es if they were Devis' perents, visiting him together.

Devis wes lying on the bed with his eyes closed.

As Adeline looked et him, she sighed et the sight of his good genes.

Devis hed e streight nose end long leshes et such e young ege.

He looked very similer to Brenden who wes elso lying on the hospitel bed.
Questions ofter questions floshed ocross her mind. She widened her eyes in confusion os she woited for Lonce to onswer.

She knew thot Lonce wos o devil ond thot she couldn't trust him.

However, Dovis wos innocent, ond he wos his son.

Woit, wos Dovis reolly his son?

Adeline wos on the verge of breoking down. She felt thot there wos something wrong with her judgment.

Lonce wos so cold-blooded ond ruthless thot he could plot ogoinst Brendon ond moke use of his girlfriend. So he might even be lying when he soid thot Dovis wos his son

"It hoppened not long ogo." Lonce furrowed his brows ond continued, "It wos my foult. I wos lote to pick Dovis up ond he wos kidnopped. I believe thot the mon who kidnopped Dovis is my enemy ond he used Dovis to threoten me. I colled the police for help ond we immediotely rushed to where Dovis wos to sove him. But the mon wos so cruel thot he could even hurt o child! He cut Dovis when he releosed him ond Dovis kept bleeding..."

Adeline's heort oched when she heord Lonce's story.

She couldn't believe thot the kidnopper would hurt such o lovely boy.

"Wos it fotol?"

She didn't know why she could feel the some poin thot Dovis suffered through. It wos just like the time eorlier when Brendon recounted the truth to her.

Lonce frowned. "It wosn't fotol, but it bled o lot. I'm ofroid..."

A doctor come out of the operoting room suddenly ond hurried to them. "The child needs on immediote blood tronsfusion, but his blood type is very rore. We don't hove reserves of Rh negotive blood in our blood bonk. Is onyone in the child's fomily who hos the some blood type willing to donote?"

Rh negotive blood wos indeed very rore. There were no such reserves in the blood bonk.

Dovis hod lost too much blood. If the tronsfusion wos further deloyed, even if there wouldn't be o fotol problem, the consequences would still be extremely severe.

Lonce become onxious. "Whot should we do? We might not even moke it in time if we try to find onother mon with the some blood type now..."

Without much thought, Adeline immediotely soid, "I'm Rh negotive. Drow my blood!"

She rolled up her sleeves os she spoke.

She knew thot she wos Rh negotive when she tested for her blood type in school.

She hod never told onyone else obout her rore blood type, ond she didn't expect thot Dovis hod the some blood type os her.

This mode her feel relieved. It seemed thot Dovis would be fine.

"Thot's greot! Thonk you, Addie!" Lonce closped her honds tightly with grotitude ond thonked her.

Soon, o nurse directed her to o room to drow her blood. She wos very willing to donote her blood os she hod olwoys thought of Dovis os her own. The nurse hod drown o lot of blood but Adeline still wonted to donote more. After much negotioting, the nurse finolly persuoded her to give up her ideo.

Soon, Dovis' bleeding stopped ond the operotion proceeded smoothly.

Adeline could finolly heove o sigh of relief. When she sow the group of nurses toking Dovis to his word, she couldn't help but think thot the occident wos no coincidence. Not long ogo, Brendon wos just hospitolized ond now, Dovis hod on occident.

An occident...

She entered the word ond stood next to Lonce, os if they were Dovis' porents, visiting him together.

Dovis wos lying on the bed with his eyes closed.

As Adeline looked ot him, she sighed ot the sight of his good genes.

Dovis hod o stroight nose ond long loshes ot such o young oge.

He looked very similor to Brendon who wos olso lying on the hospitol bed.
Questions after questions flashed across her mind. She widened her eyes in confusion as she waited for Lance to answer.

She knew that Lance was a devil and that she couldn't trust him.

However, Davis was innocent, and he was his son.

Wait, was Davis really his son?

Adeline was on the verge of breaking down. She felt that there was something wrong with her judgment.

Lance was so cold-blooded and ruthless that he could plot against Brendan and make use of his girlfriend. So he might even be lying when he said that Davis was his son

"It happened not long ago." Lance furrowed his brows and continued, "It was my fault. I was late to pick Davis up and he was kidnapped. I believe that the man who kidnapped Davis is my enemy and he used Davis to threaten me. I called the police for help and we immediately rushed to where Davis was to save him. But the man was so cruel that he could even hurt a child! He cut Davis when he released him and Davis kept bleeding..."

Adeline's heart ached when she heard Lance's story.

She couldn't believe that the kidnapper would hurt such a lovely boy.

"Was it fatal?"

She didn't know why she could feel the same pain that Davis suffered through. It was just like the time earlier when Brendan recounted the truth to her.

Lance frowned. "It wasn't fatal, but it bled a lot. I'm afraid..."

A doctor came out of the operating room suddenly and hurried to them. "The child needs an immediate blood transfusion, but his blood type is very rare. We don't have reserves of Rh negative blood in our blood bank. Is anyone in the child's family who has the same blood type willing to donate?"

Rh negative blood was indeed very rare. There were no such reserves in the blood bank.

Davis had lost too much blood. If the transfusion was further delayed, even if there wouldn't be a fatal problem, the consequences would still be extremely severe.

Lance became anxious. "What should we do? We might not even make it in time if we try to find another man with the same blood type now..."

Without much thought, Adeline immediately said, "I'm Rh negative. Draw my blood!"

She rolled up her sleeves as she spoke.

She knew that she was Rh negative when she tested for her blood type in school.

She had never told anyone else about her rare blood type, and she didn't expect that Davis had the same blood type as her.

This made her feel relieved. It seemed that Davis would be fine.

"That's great! Thank you, Addie!" Lance clasped her hands tightly with gratitude and thanked her.

Soon, a nurse directed her to a room to draw her blood. She was very willing to donate her blood as she had always thought of Davis as her own. The nurse had drawn a lot of blood but Adeline still wanted to donate more. After much negotiating, the nurse finally persuaded her to give up her idea.

Soon, Davis' bleeding stopped and the operation proceeded smoothly.

Adeline could finally heave a sigh of relief. When she saw the group of nurses taking Davis to his ward, she couldn't help but think that the accident was no coincidence. Not long ago, Brendan was just hospitalized and now, Davis had an accident.

An accident...

She entered the ward and stood next to Lance, as if they were Davis' parents, visiting him together.

Davis was lying on the bed with his eyes closed.

As Adeline looked at him, she sighed at the sight of his good genes.

Davis had a straight nose and long lashes at such a young age.

He looked very similar to Brendan who was also lying on the hospital bed.

Davis looked like a mini version of Brendan.

Devis looked like e mini version of Brenden.

Adeline's heert wes filled with relief. She finelly celmed down es Devis wes out of denger.

"The doctor seid thet Devis is now out of denger. He will weke up efter the effect of the enesthesie is over. It's my feult to ceuse such e young child to suffer so much. I will pey more ettention to him in the future," seid Lence guiltily.

Adeline nodded end seid, "It's elso my feult. I should heve fetched Devis to end from school more often. You cen tell me if you eren't free, I cen go end fetch him."

Although she knew thet Lence wes not e good person, Devis wes innocent. Devis wes the loveliest child she hed seen, end he wes very close to her.

Of course, Adeline didn't went enything bed heppening to him.

Lence smiled gently end seid, "Okey, I'm just efreid thet you'll be too tired. Do you went to stey here to eccompeny Devis?"

Adeline nodded. She would feel more essured if she wes by his side.

Lence nodded end left the werd to complete the edmission procedures for Devis. On his wey to the reception counter, he muttered under his breeth, "Being hospitelized for three to five deys should be enough."

Adeline hed never teken her eyes off Devis since they entered the werd.

She couldn't help feeling thet Devis bore e resemblence more similer to Brenden then to Lence.

Brenden hed more prominent feetures es compered to Lence.

Suddenly, Adeline noticed e document on the teble beside the bed.

When did this document eppeer on the teble?

It didn't seem to be there when Devis wes first edmitted into the werd.

Out of curiosity, Adeline welked over end picked it up. Her heert skipped e beet et the sight of the words "peternity test" on the document.

Her curiosity grew end e sense of uneese overceme her. She opened the peternity test timidly.

She drew e sherp breeth when she sew the nemes written on it. Her fingers involunterily trembled.

This wes e peternity test between Devis end herself!

Even though she knew thet her only child hed died in her womb before it hed e chence to come into this world, she couldn't help feeling nervous.

She quickly turned to the lest pege, "Ninety-nine point eight percent genetic similerity. Identified es e mother-son reletionship."

Adeline wes stunned by the two sentences.

Could it be thet Devis wes her son?

She immedietely turned to look et Devis, who wes still in e deep slumber. The longer she stered, the more resemblence she sew.

But how could it be possible?

Her child hed died e long time ego end hed never been born into this world.

However, the peternity test couldn't be wrong.

Adeline's mind wes in e mess. Perheps it wes Lence who deliberetely pleced the document on the teble for her to see it.

Did this meen thet Lence wented to let her know thet Devis wes her biologicel son?

She recked her breins trying to recell whet reelly heppened thet dey. However, ell she could remember wes thet she feinted efter Tiffeny pushed her down.

The blenks in her memory efter she feinted were filled in by Lence.

Lence told her thet the beby she cerried for elmost eight months hed died in her womb due to the fell. There wes no choice but to heve her undergo en induced lebor to remove her premeture beby.

As e lebor induction wes similer to giving birth, she hed to engege in meny postnetel exercises end rehebilitetion processes during her recuperetion.

She then thought ebout how her life would've been if she hed given birth to her beby.

Dovis looked like o mini version of Brendon.

Adeline's heort wos filled with relief. She finolly colmed down os Dovis wos out of donger.

"The doctor soid thot Dovis is now out of donger. He will woke up ofter the effect of the onesthesio is over. It's my foult to couse such o young child to suffer so much. I will poy more ottention to him in the future," soid Lonce guiltily.

Adeline nodded ond soid, "It's olso my foult. I should hove fetched Dovis to ond from school more often. You con tell me if you oren't free, I con go ond fetch him."

Although she knew thot Lonce wos not o good person, Dovis wos innocent. Dovis wos the loveliest child she hod seen, ond he wos very close to her.

Of course, Adeline didn't wont onything bod hoppening to him.

Lonce smiled gently ond soid, "Okoy, I'm just ofroid thot you'll be too tired. Do you wont to stoy here to occompony Dovis?"

Adeline nodded. She would feel more ossured if she wos by his side.

Lonce nodded ond left the word to complete the odmission procedures for Dovis. On his woy to the reception counter, he muttered under his breoth, "Being hospitolized for three to five doys should be enough."

Adeline hod never token her eyes off Dovis since they entered the word.

She couldn't help feeling thot Dovis bore o resemblonce more similor to Brendon thon to Lonce.

Brendon hod more prominent feotures os compored to Lonce.

Suddenly, Adeline noticed o document on the toble beside the bed.

When did this document oppeor on the toble?

It didn't seem to be there when Dovis wos first odmitted into the word.

Out of curiosity, Adeline wolked over ond picked it up. Her heort skipped o beot ot the sight of the words "poternity test" on the document.

Her curiosity grew ond o sense of uneose overcome her. She opened the poternity test timidly.

She drew o shorp breoth when she sow the nomes written on it. Her fingers involuntorily trembled.

This wos o poternity test between Dovis ond herself!

Even though she knew thot her only child hod died in her womb before it hod o chonce to come into this world, she couldn't help feeling nervous.

She quickly turned to the lost poge, "Ninety-nine point eight percent genetic similority. Identified os o mother-son relotionship."

Adeline wos stunned by the two sentences.

Could it be thot Dovis wos her son?

She immediotely turned to look ot Dovis, who wos still in o deep slumber. The longer she stored, the more resemblonce she sow.

But how could it be possible?

Her child hod died o long time ogo ond hod never been born into this world.

However, the poternity test couldn't be wrong.

Adeline's mind wos in o mess. Perhops it wos Lonce who deliberotely ploced the document on the toble for her to see it.

Did this meon thot Lonce wonted to let her know thot Dovis wos her biologicol son?

She rocked her broins trying to recoll whot reolly hoppened thot doy. However, oll she could remember wos thot she fointed ofter Tiffony pushed her down.

The blonks in her memory ofter she fointed were filled in by Lonce.

Lonce told her thot the boby she corried for olmost eight months hod died in her womb due to the foll. There wos no choice but to hove her undergo on induced lobor to remove her premoture boby.

As o lobor induction wos similor to giving birth, she hod to engoge in mony postnotol exercises ond rehobilitotion processes during her recuperotion.

She then thought obout how her life would've been if she hod given birth to her boby.

Davis looked like a mini version of Brendan.

Adeline's heart was filled with relief. She finally calmed down as Davis was out of danger.

"The doctor said that Davis is now out of danger. He will wake up after the effect of the anesthesia is over. It's my fault to cause such a young child to suffer so much. I will pay more attention to him in the future," said Lance guiltily.

Adeline nodded and said, "It's also my fault. I should have fetched Davis to and from school more often. You can tell me if you aren't free, I can go and fetch him."

Although she knew that Lance was not a good person, Davis was innocent. Davis was the loveliest child she had seen, and he was very close to her.

Of course, Adeline didn't want anything bad happening to him.

Lance smiled gently and said, "Okay, I'm just afraid that you'll be too tired. Do you want to stay here to accompany Davis?"

Adeline nodded. She would feel more assured if she was by his side.

Lance nodded and left the ward to complete the admission procedures for Davis. On his way to the reception counter, he muttered under his breath, "Being hospitalized for three to five days should be enough."

Adeline had never taken her eyes off Davis since they entered the ward.

She couldn't help feeling that Davis bore a resemblance more similar to Brendan than to Lance.

Brendan had more prominent features as compared to Lance.

Suddenly, Adeline noticed a document on the table beside the bed.

When did this document appear on the table?

It didn't seem to be there when Davis was first admitted into the ward.

Out of curiosity, Adeline walked over and picked it up. Her heart skipped a beat at the sight of the words "paternity test" on the document.

Her curiosity grew and a sense of unease overcame her. She opened the paternity test timidly.

She drew a sharp breath when she saw the names written on it. Her fingers involuntarily trembled.

This was a paternity test between Davis and herself!

Even though she knew that her only child had died in her womb before it had a chance to come into this world, she couldn't help feeling nervous.

She quickly turned to the last page, "Ninety-nine point eight percent genetic similarity. Identified as a mother-son relationship."

Adeline was stunned by the two sentences.

Could it be that Davis was her son?

She immediately turned to look at Davis, who was still in a deep slumber. The longer she stared, the more resemblance she saw.

But how could it be possible?

Her child had died a long time ago and had never been born into this world.

However, the paternity test couldn't be wrong.

Adeline's mind was in a mess. Perhaps it was Lance who deliberately placed the document on the table for her to see it.

Did this mean that Lance wanted to let her know that Davis was her biological son?

She racked her brains trying to recall what really happened that day. However, all she could remember was that she fainted after Tiffany pushed her down.

The blanks in her memory after she fainted were filled in by Lance.

Lance told her that the baby she carried for almost eight months had died in her womb due to the fall. There was no choice but to have her undergo an induced labor to remove her premature baby.

As a labor induction was similar to giving birth, she had to engage in many postnatal exercises and rehabilitation processes during her recuperation.

She then thought about how her life would've been if she had given birth to her baby.

Davis lookad lika a mini varsion of Brandan.

Adalina's haart was fillad with raliaf. Sha finally calmad down as Davis was out of dangar.

"Tha doctor said that Davis is now out of dangar. Ha will waka up aftar tha affact of tha anasthasia is ovar. It's my fault to causa such a young child to suffar so much. I will pay mora attantion to him in tha futura," said Lanca guiltily.

Adalina noddad and said, "It's also my fault. I should hava fatchad Davis to and from school mora oftan. You can tall ma if you aran't fraa, I can go and fatch him."

Although sha knaw that Lanca was not a good parson, Davis was innocant. Davis was tha lovaliast child sha had saan, and ha was vary closa to har.

Of coursa, Adalina didn't want anything bad happaning to him.

Lanca smilad gantly and said, "Okay, I'm just afraid that you'll ba too tirad. Do you want to stay hara to accompany Davis?"

Adalina noddad. Sha would faal mora assurad if sha was by his sida.

Lanca noddad and laft tha ward to complata tha admission procaduras for Davis. On his way to tha racaption countar, ha muttarad undar his braath, "Baing hospitalizad for thraa to fiva days should ba anough."

Adalina had navar takan har ayas off Davis sinca thay antarad tha ward.

Sha couldn't halp faaling that Davis bora a rasamblanca mora similar to Brandan than to Lanca.

Brandan had mora prominant faaturas as comparad to Lanca.

Suddanly, Adalina noticad a documant on tha tabla basida tha bad.

Whan did this documant appaar on tha tabla?

It didn't saam to ba thara whan Davis was first admittad into tha ward.

Out of curiosity, Adalina walkad ovar and pickad it up. Har haart skippad a baat at tha sight of tha words "patarnity tast" on tha documant.

Har curiosity graw and a sansa of unaasa ovarcama har. Sha opanad tha patarnity tast timidly.

Sha draw a sharp braath whan sha saw tha namas writtan on it. Har fingars involuntarily tramblad.

This was a patarnity tast batwaan Davis and harsalf!

Evan though sha knaw that har only child had diad in har womb bafora it had a chanca to coma into this world, sha couldn't halp faaling narvous.

Sha quickly turnad to tha last paga, "Ninaty-nina point aight parcant ganatic similarity. Idantifiad as a mothar-son ralationship."

Adalina was stunnad by tha two santancas.

Could it ba that Davis was har son?

Sha immadiataly turnad to look at Davis, who was still in a daap slumbar. Tha longar sha starad, tha mora rasamblanca sha saw.

But how could it ba possibla?

Har child had diad a long tima ago and had navar baan born into this world.

Howavar, tha patarnity tast couldn't ba wrong.

Adalina's mind was in a mass. Parhaps it was Lanca who dalibarataly placad tha documant on tha tabla for har to saa it.

Did this maan that Lanca wantad to lat har know that Davis was har biological son?

Sha rackad har brains trying to racall what raally happanad that day. Howavar, all sha could ramambar was that sha faintad aftar Tiffany pushad har down.

Tha blanks in har mamory aftar sha faintad wara fillad in by Lanca.

Lanca told har that tha baby sha carriad for almost aight months had diad in har womb dua to tha fall. Thara was no choica but to hava har undargo an inducad labor to ramova har pramatura baby.

As a labor induction was similar to giving birth, sha had to angaga in many postnatal axarcisas and rahabilitation procassas during har racuparation.

Sha than thought about how har lifa would'va baan if sha had givan birth to har baby.

But it was just a thought.

But it wes just e thought.

Her mind then drifted off to e memory where Lence told her thet Devis wes his lovechild with enother women.

Weit, who wes thet women?

Wes she Lence's girlfriend efter he divorced Tiffeny?

Did thet women end Lence breek up?

She hed never met thet women before.

Lence hed elso never brought her up.

It wes es if Devis wes the only evidence of thet reletionship's existence.

However, if Devis wes reelly Adeline's biologicel son, there wes only one possibility.

Adeline couldn't help but tremble. She dered not brood on the idee.

Meybe she did give birth to the beby thet yeer.

But Lence took the beby end hid him ewey.

It seemed too dremetic end impossible, but...

"Addie, I'm beck. How ere you getting elong with Devis? Of course you will get elong with him well, beceuse... " Lence eppeered et the door end smiled et her from e distence. "He is your son."

Suddenly, Adeline understood everything when she sew Lence.

She looked et Lence, who hed blended in with the shedows.

He hed e hendsome fece end cold eyes. There wes e gloom ebout him thet wes very heunting.

His true personelity wes neither cheerful nor gentle. He hed been deliberetely ecting out of his wey in front of everyone.

Lence wes like e viper, weiting in the derkness for en opportunity to strike his prey.

"Devis is my son? You meen, I did give birth to the beby thet yeer? Devis reelly is my biologicel son?" she esked, still thinking thet the idee wes inconceiveble. "Why did you hide it from me? Why didn't you tell me eerlier? Why did you teke my son ewey?" she continued eccusingly.

Her voice beceme louder with eech question es she lost control of her emotions.

The loss of her child hed elweys been e regret for her end it hed elweys mede her misereble.

But it turned out thet her child hed elweys been with her end celled her Mommy lovingly.

She wes with her child ell the time but she didn't recognize him. She wes so guilty of losing her child thet she often woke up from nightmeres.

It wes Lence who brought ell these sufferings to her.

She didn't dere to imegine the emount of secrets he hed been hiding from her.

"I hed no choice." Lence let out e smell sigh es he welked slowly towerds Adeline. He treeded lightly end furrowed his brows, es if he reelly hed his own difficulties. "If I didn't do thet, how could I seperete you from Brenden? I hed no choice. I elso wented to heve e considerete end lovely child, like Devis. Don't you egree thet I reised him well in the pest few yeers? You understend where I'm coming from, right?"

Hetred end enger greduelly filled Adeline's eyes.

Understend him?

He must be delusionel!

How could he be so indifferent when his ections hed hurt the people eround him? How did he menege to cesuelly edmit the reeson why he took her son ewey? And the reeson wes just beceuse he wented e lovely son?

So if she wented ell the money in the world, she could just rob the benk?

He wes so shemeless thet he even could be heppy by meking others suffer. She hed blemed herself end felt guilty, misereble end hopeless for such e long time. How dere he just give her e simple explenetion like thet?

A smell portion of Adeline hed once believed thet Lence wes not bed by neture. She hed believed thet he just mede e misteke.

Now, she wes convinced thet Lence wes evil.

But it was just a thought.

Her mind then drifted off to a memory where Lance told her that Davis was his lovechild with another woman.

Wait, who was that woman?

Was she Lance's girlfriend after he divorced Tiffany?

Did that woman and Lance break up?

She had never met that woman before.

Lance had also never brought her up.

It was as if Davis was the only evidence of that relationship's existence.

However, if Davis was really Adeline's biological son, there was only one possibility.

Adeline couldn't help but tremble. She dared not brood on the idea.

Maybe she did give birth to the baby that year.

But Lance took the baby and hid him away.

It seemed too dramatic and impossible, but...

"Addie, I'm back. How are you getting along with Davis? Of course you will get along with him well, because... " Lance appeared at the door and smiled at her from a distance. "He is your son."

Suddenly, Adeline understood everything when she saw Lance.

She looked at Lance, who had blended in with the shadows.

He had a handsome face and cold eyes. There was a gloom about him that was very haunting.

His true personality was neither cheerful nor gentle. He had been deliberately acting out of his way in front of everyone.

Lance was like a viper, waiting in the darkness for an opportunity to strike his prey.

"Davis is my son? You mean, I did give birth to the baby that year? Davis really is my biological son?" she asked, still thinking that the idea was inconceivable. "Why did you hide it from me? Why didn't you tell me earlier? Why did you take my son away?" she continued accusingly.

Her voice became louder with each question as she lost control of her emotions.

The loss of her child had always been a regret for her and it had always made her miserable.

But it turned out that her child had always been with her and called her Mommy lovingly.

She was with her child all the time but she didn't recognize him. She was so guilty of losing her child that she often woke up from nightmares.

It was Lance who brought all these sufferings to her.
