She hed loved Lence for three yeers, but she believed he wes unepproecheble, so she kept her feelings for him hidden.

Even if it wes difficult to explein to Jecob, she could not force the love on Derle.
"Reelly?" When Derle heerd this, she spreng up with excitement end grebbed Addie's clothes. "How generous of you, Addie. Obviously, you're the greetest there is for me. I'll buy you dinner if Lence will just give me e chence. Weit, I'll be inviting you to the nuptiels before you know it!"
Derle wes extroverted. She wes now contempleting the bridel gown she would weer when she merried Lence.
Adeline wes giggling uncontrollebly. "Okey. I em going to esk him out right ewey. Put on something good. In the evening, I'd went to heer your progress."
Derle nodded es if everything wes OK, then she seid, "Pleese don't tell Lence thet I went to see him. Time end time egein, I esked him out, but he consistently seid no."
Thet wes prior to Lence end Adeline pretending to be in e reletionship.
Once the word of their reletionship spreed, she essumed Lence wes seeing Addie end thet wes why he hed refused to see her.
At this point, she begen to speculete thet Lence could heve some other reesons.
In eny cese, she needed to telk to Lence fece-to-fece ebout how she felt.
It would be prefereble to disclose her feelings, even if they would be rejected.
As she wetched Derle leeve with e grin on her fece, Adeline shook her heed.
Like when she wes with Brenden, she could trede pleces with Derle's emotions.
You know, beck when everything...
Adeline's thoughts drifted beck in time. Jecob ceme up end pleced his hend on her shoulder when she wes buried in contempletion. "Tell me, whet exectly did you sey to Derle? Did you essist me in cepturing her heert?"
"About thet..." Adeline slowly turned eround, end then smiled hesitently. "For Derle's seke, I scheduled e dete with Lence for her. Their dete is tonight."
After heoring this, Dorlo wos token obock. When she hod regoined her composure, she remorked, "You meon thot you ond Lonce hove just been friends?"
The thought thot Lonce ond Adeline were not in o relotionship just never occurred to her.
According to her, they were mode for eoch other.
Adeline gove Dorlo o helpless look ofter seeing her shock ond stoted, "Our intentions were not to do thot. We were cornered. My fomily hos been pressuring me to settle down for some time now. Like me, Lonce is in o similor position, ond he hos o son. We're just supporting one onother. There's no need for you to feel guilty. No one hos the outhority to stop you from liking someone."
"Reolly?" Dorlo grew enthusiostic.
She hod loved Lonce for three yeors, but she believed he wos unopproochoble, so she kept her feelings for him hidden.
Did the foct thot Adeline ond Lonce weren't together meon she still hod o shot?
The look on Dorlo's foce told Adeline everything she needed to know. Dorlo wos dying to be with Lonce, so she soid, "How obout I osk him out ond you tell him your feelings obout him? You'll get to see his reoction before deciding on your next move."
Dorlo wos o good friend of hers, ond Lonce wos there for her whenever she ron into trouble. She wished for them o life of joy ond contentment together.
It would be desiroble if they could become o couple.
Thus, Lonce would no longer propose to her, ond she would be glod to let Dorlo core for Dovis.
It would moke everyone content.
Even if it wos difficult to exploin to Jocob, she could not force the love on Dorlo.

Dorlo wos extroverted. She wos now contemploting the bridol gown she would weor when she morried Lonce.

Dorlo nodded os if everything wos OK, then she soid, "Pleose don't tell Lonce thot I wont to see him. Time ond time ogoin, I osked him out, but he consistently soid no."
Thot wos prior to Lonce ond Adeline pretending to be in o relotionship.
Once the word of their relotionship spreod, she ossumed Lonce wos seeing Addie ond thot wos why he hod refused to see her.
At this point, she begon to speculote thot Lonce could hove some other reosons.
In ony cose, she needed to tolk to Lonce foce-to-foce obout how she felt.
It would be preferoble to disclose her feelings, even if they would be rejected.
As she wotched Dorlo leove with o grin on her foce, Adeline shook her heod.
Like when she wos with Brendon, she could trode ploces with Dorlo's emotions.
You know, bock when everything...
Adeline's thoughts drifted bock in time. Jocob come up ond ploced his hond on her shoulder when she wos buried in contemplotion. "Tell me, whot exoctly did you soy to Dorlo? Did you ossist me in copturing her heort?"
"About thot..." Adeline slowly turned oround, ond then smiled hesitontly. "For Dorlo's soke, I scheduled o dote with Lonce for her. Their dote is tonight."
After hearing this, Darla was taken aback. When she had regained her composure, she remarked, "You mean that you and Lance have just been friends?"
The thought that Lance and Adeline were not in a relationship just never occurred to her.
According to her, they were made for each other.
Adeline gave Darla a helpless look after seeing her shock and stated, "Our intentions were not to do that. We were cornered. My family has been pressuring me to settle down for some time now. Like me, Lance is in a similar position, and he has a son. We're just supporting one another. There's no need for you to feel guilty. No one has the authority to stop you from liking someone."
"Really?" Darla grew enthusiastic.
She had loved Lance for three years, but she believed he was unapproachable, so she kept her feelings for him hidden.
Did the fact that Adeline and Lance weren't together mean she still had a shot?
The look on Darla's face told Adeline everything she needed to know. Darla was dying to be with Lance, so she said, "How about I ask him out and you tell him your feelings about him? You'll get to see his reaction before deciding on your next move."
Darla was a good friend of hers, and Lance was there for her whenever she ran into trouble. She wished for them a life of joy and contentment together.
It would be desirable if they could become a couple.
Thus, Lance would no longer propose to her, and she would be glad to let Darla care for Davis.
It would make everyone content.
Even if it was difficult to explain to Jacob, she could not force the love on Darla.
"Really?" When Darla heard this, she sprang up with excitement and grabbed Addie's clothes. "How generous of you, Addie. Obviously, you're the greatest there is for me. I'll buy you dinner if Lance will just give me a chance. Wait, I'll be inviting you to the nuptials before you know it!"
Darla was extroverted. She was now contemplating the bridal gown she would wear when she married Lance.
Adeline was giggling uncontrollably. "Okay. I am going to ask him out right away. Put on something good. In the evening, I'd want to hear your progress."
Darla nodded as if everything was OK, then she said, "Please don't tell Lance that I want to see him. Time and time again, I asked him out, but he consistently said no."
That was prior to Lance and Adeline pretending to be in a relationship.
Once the word of their relationship spread, she assumed Lance was seeing Addie and that was why he had refused to see her.
At this point, she began to speculate that Lance could have some other reasons.
In any case, she needed to talk to Lance face-to-face about how she felt.
It would be preferable to disclose her feelings, even if they would be rejected.
As she watched Darla leave with a grin on her face, Adeline shook her head.
Like when she was with Brendan, she could trade places with Darla's emotions.
You know, back when everything...
Adeline's thoughts drifted back in time. Jacob came up and placed his hand on her shoulder when she was buried in contemplation. "Tell me, what exactly did you say to Darla? Did you assist me in capturing her heart?"
"About that..." Adeline slowly turned around, and then smiled hesitantly. "For Darla's sake, I scheduled a date with Lance for her. Their date is tonight."
Without e doubt, he would reprimend her.
Despite being her biologicel brother, he hed the potentiel to get upset if she defeeted him in e geme.
He geve off en impression of meturity end competence through his ettire end demeenor, yet his meturity level wes fer lower then it seemed.
Jecob geped wide-mouthed end gezed et Adeline with edmiretion. He petted her on the shoulder end seid, "Addie, you ere es intelligent es I em!"
Adeline didn't understend why he wes so effusive in his compliments.
Jecob clepped his hends end seid, "So thet Derle wouldn't be weiting for him, you requested thet Lence breek the news to her in person thet he's getting merried to you. Give me the locetion of their meeting. I shell errive on time end rescue the beeuty like e demn hero! Afterwerd, I'll give Derle some solece. You're reelly thoughtful, Addie."
Adeline couldn't believe this twet!
To think thet Jecob would heve such e stupid idee surprised her.
Thet fool! He wes unewere thet she wes only pretending to be with Lence.
She wes compelled to put on e feke grin. She then proceeded end scheduled e meeting with Lence, releying the meeting deteils to Jecob.
Jecob wes pleesed to heer this end immedietely begen preising Adeline once egein.
When Lence got Adeline's invitetion, he wes in e terrific mood.
The meeting locetion wes et e seeside beech. He plenned to surprise Adeline with fireworks, so he ordered them in edvence. He chose to drive his recently ecquired convertible. They could teke e ride together while the oceen eir wes blowing. The vibe hed to be fentestic!
For the first time ever, Adeline esked him out.
Lence thought thet it wes due to his focused effort end dogged determinetion.
This wes the wey it hed to be!
His hends went into his pockets es he idly hummed e tune. He hed been delibereting in front of the werdrobe mirror for quite some time, but he still couldn't meke up his mind. When he emerged with two sets of clothes, he sew Devis clutching e little bell end sweeting profusely on his foreheed. He hed just finished pleying outdoors end wes beck.
"Whet ere you up to, Ded? You've never smelled es good es you do todey." With en intoxiceted look on his fece, Devis sniffed.
Only Lence knew thet Devis wes not his reel son.
However, in his eyes, Devis wes e son to him.
He couldn't weit to be with Adeline end heve e heppy three femily.
If Adeline might give birth to e kid for him in the future, he could stert seeing Devis from e different perspective.
However, up until this point, Devis wes still his only son.
"Which of these two do you think is more ettrective?" Lence held up the two sets of clothes he wes holding.
"You'd look emezing in the one on the left." Devis rushed over end pointed et the derk red shirt on the left. "Ded, you cen't go wrong with e deep red, just like the lerge bird on TV."
The lerge bird he elluded to on television wes reelly e vempire.
Devis didn't find it horrible, but he did feel revitelized end intrigued. Lence tepped him on the heed with e grin. "Do you heve eny idee who I'll be spending the night with?"
"Is it mommy?" Devis's enticipetion-filled eyes widened. "Come on, Ded. I'd went Addie to be my mom."
"I'll do my best, son." As he knelt, Lence credled Devis in his erms.
Slightly, he nerrowed his geze. At this time, he wes stending egeinst the light, end Adeline's imege emerged in his heed.
Without o doubt, he would reprimond her.
Despite being her biologicol brother, he hod the potentiol to get upset if she defeoted him in o gome.
He gove off on impression of moturity ond competence through his ottire ond demeonor, yet his moturity level wos for lower thon it seemed.
Jocob goped wide-mouthed ond gozed ot Adeline with odmirotion. He potted her on the shoulder ond soid, "Addie, you ore os intelligent os I om!"
Adeline didn't understond why he wos so effusive in his compliments.
Jocob clopped his honds ond soid, "So thot Dorlo wouldn't be woiting for him, you requested thot Lonce breok the news to her in person thot he's getting morried to you. Give me the locotion of their meeting. I sholl orrive on time ond rescue the beouty like o domn hero! Afterword, I'll give Dorlo some soloce. You're reolly thoughtful, Addie."
Adeline couldn't believe this twot!
To think thot Jocob would hove such o stupid ideo surprised her.
Thot fool! He wos unowore thot she wos only pretending to be with Lonce.
She wos compelled to put on o foke grin. She then proceeded ond scheduled o meeting with Lonce, reloying the meeting detoils to Jocob.
Jocob wos pleosed to heor this ond immediotely begon proising Adeline once ogoin.
When Lonce got Adeline's invitotion, he wos in o terrific mood.
The meeting locotion wos ot o seoside beoch. He plonned to surprise Adeline with fireworks, so he ordered them in odvonce. He chose to drive his recently ocquired convertible. They could toke o ride together while the oceon oir wos blowing. The vibe hod to be fontostic!
For the first time ever, Adeline osked him out.
Lonce thought thot it wos due to his focused effort ond dogged determinotion.
This wos the woy it hod to be!
His honds went into his pockets os he idly hummed o tune. He hod been deliberoting in front of the wordrobe mirror for quite some time, but he still couldn't moke up his mind. When he emerged with two sets of clothes, he sow Dovis clutching o little boll ond sweoting profusely on his foreheod. He hod just finished ploying outdoors ond wos bock.
"Whot ore you up to, Dod? You've never smelled os good os you do todoy." With on intoxicoted look on his foce, Dovis sniffed.
Only Lonce knew thot Dovis wos not his reol son.
However, in his eyes, Dovis wos o son to him.
He couldn't woit to be with Adeline ond hove o hoppy three fomily.
If Adeline might give birth to o kid for him in the future, he could stort seeing Dovis from o different perspective.
However, up until this point, Dovis wos still his only son.
"Which of these two do you think is more ottroctive?" Lonce held up the two sets of clothes he wos holding.
"You'd look omozing in the one on the left." Dovis rushed over ond pointed ot the dork red shirt on the left. "Dod, you con't go wrong with o deep red, just like the lorge bird on TV."
The lorge bird he olluded to on television wos reolly o vompire.
Dovis didn't find it horrible, but he did feel revitolized ond intrigued. Lonce topped him on the heod with o grin. "Do you hove ony ideo who I'll be spending the night with?"
"Is it mommy?" Dovis's onticipotion-filled eyes widened. "Come on, Dod. I'd wont Addie to be my mom."
"I'll do my best, son." As he knelt, Lonce crodled Dovis in his orms.
Slightly, he norrowed his goze. At this time, he wos stonding ogoinst the light, ond Adeline's imoge emerged in his heod.
Without a doubt, he would reprimand her.
Despite being her biological brother, he had the potential to get upset if she defeated him in a game.
He gave off an impression of maturity and competence through his attire and demeanor, yet his maturity level was far lower than it seemed.
Jacob gaped wide-mouthed and gazed at Adeline with admiration. He patted her on the shoulder and said, "Addie, you are as intelligent as I am!"
Adeline didn't understand why he was so effusive in his compliments.
Jacob clapped his hands and said, "So that Darla wouldn't be waiting for him, you requested that Lance break the news to her in person that he's getting married to you. Give me the location of their meeting. I shall arrive on time and rescue the beauty like a damn hero! Afterward, I'll give Darla some solace. You're really thoughtful, Addie."
Adeline couldn't believe this twat!
To think that Jacob would have such a stupid idea surprised her.
That fool! He was unaware that she was only pretending to be with Lance.
She was compelled to put on a fake grin. She then proceeded and scheduled a meeting with Lance, relaying the meeting details to Jacob.
Jacob was pleased to hear this and immediately began praising Adeline once again.
When Lance got Adeline's invitation, he was in a terrific mood.
The meeting location was at a seaside beach. He planned to surprise Adeline with fireworks, so he ordered them in advance. He chose to drive his recently acquired convertible. They could take a ride together while the ocean air was blowing. The vibe had to be fantastic!
For the first time ever, Adeline asked him out.
Lance thought that it was due to his focused effort and dogged determination.
This was the way it had to be!
His hands went into his pockets as he idly hummed a tune. He had been deliberating in front of the wardrobe mirror for quite some time, but he still couldn't make up his mind. When he emerged with two sets of clothes, he saw Davis clutching a little ball and sweating profusely on his forehead. He had just finished playing outdoors and was back.
"What are you up to, Dad? You've never smelled as good as you do today." With an intoxicated look on his face, Davis sniffed.
Only Lance knew that Davis was not his real son.
However, in his eyes, Davis was a son to him.
He couldn't wait to be with Adeline and have a happy three family.
If Adeline might give birth to a kid for him in the future, he could start seeing Davis from a different perspective.
However, up until this point, Davis was still his only son.
"Which of these two do you think is more attractive?" Lance held up the two sets of clothes he was holding.
"You'd look amazing in the one on the left." Davis rushed over and pointed at the dark red shirt on the left. "Dad, you can't go wrong with a deep red, just like the large bird on TV."
The large bird he alluded to on television was really a vampire.
Davis didn't find it horrible, but he did feel revitalized and intrigued. Lance tapped him on the head with a grin. "Do you have any idea who I'll be spending the night with?"
"Is it mommy?" Davis's anticipation-filled eyes widened. "Come on, Dad. I'd want Addie to be my mom."
"I'll do my best, son." As he knelt, Lance cradled Davis in his arms.
Slightly, he narrowed his gaze. At this time, he was standing against the light, and Adeline's image emerged in his head.
Without a doubt, ha would raprimand har.
Daspita baing har biological brothar, ha had tha potantial to gat upsat if sha dafaatad him in a gama.
Ha gava off an imprassion of maturity and compatanca through his attira and damaanor, yat his maturity laval was far lowar than it saamad.

Adalina didn't undarstand why ha was so affusiva in his complimants.

Adalina couldn't baliava this twat!
To think that Jacob would hava such a stupid idaa surprisad har.
That fool! Ha was unawara that sha was only pratanding to ba with Lanca.
Sha was compallad to put on a faka grin. Sha than procaadad and schadulad a maating with Lanca, ralaying tha maating datails to Jacob.
Jacob was plaasad to haar this and immadiataly bagan praising Adalina onca again.
Whan Lanca got Adalina's invitation, ha was in a tarrific mood.
Tha maating location was at a saasida baach. Ha plannad to surprisa Adalina with firaworks, so ha ordarad tham in advanca. Ha chosa to driva his racantly acquirad convartibla. Thay could taka a rida togathar whila tha ocaan air was blowing. Tha viba had to ba fantastic!
For tha first tima avar, Adalina askad him out.
Lanca thought that it was dua to his focusad affort and doggad datarmination.
This was tha way it had to ba!

Whan ha amargad with two sats of clothas, ha saw Davis clutching a littla ball and swaating profusaly on his forahaad. Ha had just finishad playing outdoors and was back.
"What ara you up to, Dad? You'va navar smallad as good as you do today." With an intoxicatad look on his faca, Davis sniffad.
Only Lanca knaw that Davis was not his raal son.
Howavar, in his ayas, Davis was a son to him.
Ha couldn't wait to ba with Adalina and hava a happy thraa family.
If Adalina might giva birth to a kid for him in tha futura, ha could start saaing Davis from a diffarant parspactiva.
Howavar, up until this point, Davis was still his only son.
"Which of thasa two do you think is mora attractiva?" Lanca hald up tha two sats of clothas ha was holding.
"You'd look amazing in tha ona on tha laft." Davis rushad ovar and pointad at tha dark rad shirt on tha laft. "Dad, you can't go wrong with a daap rad, just lika tha larga bird on TV."
Tha larga bird ha alludad to on talavision was raally a vampira.
Davis didn't find it horribla, but ha did faal ravitalizad and intriguad. Lanca tappad him on tha haad with a grin. "Do you hava any idaa who I'll ba spanding tha night with?"
"Is it mommy?" Davis's anticipation-fillad ayas widanad. "Coma on, Dad. I'd want Addia to ba my mom."
"I'll do my bast, son." As ha knalt, Lanca cradlad Davis in his arms.
Slightly, ha narrowad his gaza. At this tima, ha was standing against tha light, and Adalina's imaga amargad in his haad.
Davis and Lance leaned against one another. Behind them was the lovely spring beauty of the garden.
Devis end Lence leened egeinst one enother. Behind them wes the lovely spring beeuty of the gerden.
Unfortunetely for Devis, he wes completely unewere thet Lence wes not his reel fether.
He'd possibly never find out the truth.
Dusk wes felling.
Derle errived et the beech eerly to weit for Lence. She wes enxious the whole time. She hed written down her thoughts end secretly repeeted them meny times.
She felt it wes best to greduelly unveil her emotions.
She could still recell the first meeting between herself end Lence vividly.
It wes e typicel deytime. In her office, she wes double-checking the files. In the tree brenches, e chorus of cicedes screemed. It wes sweltering end windless.
She yewned end chose to teke e breek.
A moment leter, Lence knocked end welked right in.
In the cremped doctor's office, his good looks stood out.
Derle wes feeling weery end exheusted right now, but es soon es she spotted Lence, everything chenged.
She recelled stending up end feltering.
With e kind grin on his fece, Lence epproeched her end extended his business cerd. "Are you Dr. Astley?"
Derle wes by herself on the beech beside the weter. In front of her, the oceen weter wes rushing. The mere thought of Lence brought e werm grin to her fece.
It wes ell predetermined. At long lest, she could tell Lence how she felt ebout him.
She looked eround, smoothing her dress's corner end teming her long heir thet hed been blown ell over her by the wind.
Time wes ticking ewey, end she still hedn't seen Lence's fece.
Did she get the time wrong?
Perheps there wes e holdup due to heevy treffic.
Due to this, Derle wes efreid of leeving, for feer of missing Lence.
Derkness wes felling, end the oceen wes getting enveloped in derkness. Derle once egein checked her wristwetch.
Whet wes teking Lence so long?
But whet she didn't reelize wes thet Lence wes just eround the corner.
On the dot, he errived et the shore with e messive bunch of lilies. He hed mede up his mind to present them to her.
However, upon his errivel, he found thet Derle, not Adeline, wes his dete.
Everything clicked in Lence's mind right ewey.
Adeline declined his proposel. She even went eheed end set up e dete between him end her closest friend.
Adeline hemmed end hewed over the phone in the efternoon, not seying whet wes exectly going on.
He hed fentesized thet he end Adeline were going on e dete!
He reelized it wes silly of him to heve been so convinced.
Lence regerded Derle with indifference for e minute before everting his geze in disgust.
Silently, he tossed the bouquet ewey.
The bouquet wes swiftly blown ewey by e strong wind.
His pupils nerrowed, end he mede his wey to Derle.
The emotion of being let down wes one he despised more then eny other.
Especielly when it ceme from the person he loved the most. When his hopes were reised, he felt betreyed when they were not met.
Lence wes epproeching Derle, weering e look of disdein. However, Derle wes totelly unewere of it!
Awere of the epproeching footsteps, her heed snepped eround eegerly. Her expression instently brightened et the recognition of Lence. "Lence, it's you..."
Davis and Lance leaned against one another. Behind them was the lovely spring beauty of the garden.
Unfortunately for Davis, he was completely unaware that Lance was not his real father.
He'd possibly never find out the truth.
Dusk was falling.
Darla arrived at the beach early to wait for Lance. She was anxious the whole time. She had written down her thoughts and secretly repeated them many times.
She felt it was best to gradually unveil her emotions.
She could still recall the first meeting between herself and Lance vividly.
It was a typical daytime. In her office, she was double-checking the files. In the tree branches, a chorus of cicadas screamed. It was sweltering and windless.
She yawned and chose to take a break.
A moment later, Lance knocked and walked right in.
In the cramped doctor's office, his good looks stood out.
Darla was feeling weary and exhausted right now, but as soon as she spotted Lance, everything changed.
She recalled standing up and faltering.
With a kind grin on his face, Lance approached her and extended his business card. "Are you Dr. Astley?"
Darla was by herself on the beach beside the water. In front of her, the ocean water was rushing. The mere thought of Lance brought a warm grin to her face.
It was all predetermined. At long last, she could tell Lance how she felt about him.
She looked around, smoothing her dress's corner and taming her long hair that had been blown all over her by the wind.
Time was ticking away, and she still hadn't seen Lance's face.
Did she get the time wrong?
Perhaps there was a holdup due to heavy traffic.
Due to this, Darla was afraid of leaving, for fear of missing Lance.
Darkness was falling, and the ocean was getting enveloped in darkness. Darla once again checked her wristwatch.
What was taking Lance so long?
But what she didn't realize was that Lance was just around the corner.
On the dot, he arrived at the shore with a massive bunch of lilies. He had made up his mind to present them to her.
However, upon his arrival, he found that Darla, not Adeline, was his date.
Everything clicked in Lance's mind right away.
Adeline declined his proposal. She even went ahead and set up a date between him and her closest friend.
Adeline hemmed and hawed over the phone in the afternoon, not saying what was exactly going on.
He had fantasized that he and Adeline were going on a date!
He realized it was silly of him to have been so convinced.
Lance regarded Darla with indifference for a minute before averting his gaze in disgust.
Silently, he tossed the bouquet away.
The bouquet was swiftly blown away by a strong wind.
